This NBS is designed to reduce the traffic noise that arrives at the homes on thestreet. On the one hand, the green noise barriers have a specific geometry thatfavors sound reflection and on the other hand, they have a vertical gardenmodules with a specific substrate that favors sound absorption.
The green noise barriers are built with:
- Structure. Metallic structure with a specific geometry that allows thereflection of the noise. This structure is affixed to the pavement.
- Metallic piece affixed to the structure that fastens the vertical gardenmodules.
- Vertical garden modules. Pieces formed by a metal sheet on which arock wool substrate is adhered.
- Irrigation system. Drip irrigation pipes that soak the substrate.
- Vegetation. The vegetation are plants with little nutrient and waterneeds. They are species resistant to local climate suitable for growingin an inert substrate such as rock wool.
- Water collection system. All the water from the irrigation system iscollected on the bottom of the garden.
The dimensions of this NBS depend on the geometry of the structure (straight,curved or both) the height of residential buildings and the width of the street.
IMPLANTATION: Soft/Medium/Hard
This NBS creates some modifications in the environment so there are some disadvantages of removing it in the future.
AMORTISATION: Short term/Medium term/Long term/No amortization
The period of recovery of the initial economic investment of the NBS is between 10 and 20 years.
