Get to know our speakers:
Isabel Sánchez Íñiguez de la Torre: Architect from the University of Valladolid, she holds a Master's Degree in Sustainable Architecture and Energy Efficiency from the Ramón Llull University of Barcelona, and has coursed Master's Degree in Energy: Generation, Management and Efficient Use from the University of Valladolid. She has worked for several architectural studios and companies in Italy, Ireland and Spain, in the fields of sustainable urban planning, energy-efficient buildings and BIPV R&D projects. Currently, she works for the Innovation and Economic Development Agency of Valladolid, developing Nature Based Solutions projects such as URBAN GreenUP, INDNATUR or CIUDADES VERDES CENCYL.
Juliet Staples: Juliet Staples is the lead Liverpool City Council officer for Environment and Green Space strategy and development. She has over 25 years’ experience in the environmental sector and has particular interest and specialisms in climate change adaptation, resilience and ecosystem management. Juliet has a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology from Liverpool University (UK), A Master’s Degree in Pollution and Environmental Control from Manchester University (UK) and a PhD in Ecosystem Management in Navigated Waters from Liverpool University (UK). Juliet is currently leading on Liverpool’s delivery of the EU Horizon 2020 programme ‘URBAN GreenUP’.
Sinan Alper: Sinan Alper is an architect with a background in city planner at Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. He is working in the Horizon 2020 URBAN GreenUP project since 2018. He worked in design and construction process of Peynircioglu Ecological Corridor Project which was implemented as part of URBAN GreenUP He is also working on the “Living Park Projects” to disseminate nature-based solutions throughout the city of Izmir.
Xavier Romero: Xavier Romero is a Biologist and works as an environmental officer in the Granollers City Council since 1999. He manages natural areas, green spaces and the municipal water reuse network, an innovative initiative that has increased local water resources and made city more resilient. Xavier has been involved in successful urban river restorations and the social and ecologic recovery of degraded areas. Nowadays, he is taking part in European projects like CEMOWAS2, LIFE Alnus and INTERLACE.
