The Urban GreenUP External Webinars Series are focused on sharing stories from cities on the implementation of different typologies Nature Based Solutions, counting with the participation of a partner city from the Urban GreenUP Project and an external city which stands out as an international benchmark in the employment of such specific types of solutions.
The 2nd External Webinar – co-organized with the NBS sister projects UNaLab and Connecting Nature – focused on Floating Gardens, with stories from Liverpool and Chicago.

Get to know our speakers:
Juliet Staples: Juliet Staples is the lead Liverpool City Council officer for Environment and Green Space strategy and development. She has over 25 years’ experience in the environmental sector and has particular interest and specialisms in climate change adaptation, resilience and ecosystem management. Juliet has a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology from Liverpool University (UK), A Master’s Degree in Pollution and Environmental Control from Manchester University (UK) and a PhD in Ecosystem Management in Navigated Waters from Liverpool University (UK). Juliet is currently leading on Liverpool’s delivery of the EU Horizon 2020 programme ‘URBAN GreenUP’.
Nick Wesley: Nick Wesley is the Cofounder of Urban Rivers. With an emphasis on community, urban planning and technology Nick has brought together a diverse group of stakeholders on a shared vision for our cities waterways. Nick holds a BBA in Entrepreneurship from Wilkes University.
