The city has a long coastal line, a 5,000 hectares lagoon and is located in the downstream area of two rivers. The city seriously suffers from storms, flooding and beach erosion. Quy Nhon has therefore launched initiatives aiming to protect the local mangrove forest, which reduces the impact of natural hazards thus enhancing the livelihood of the area. This strategy is based largely on the involvement of the local population. The participation in URBAN GreenUP will provide additional support to the activities organised in Quy Nhon.
