Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, covers an area of 14,600 km square and has a resident population of more than 16 million people. Founded over 2300 years ago, Chengdu is home to several world natural and cultural heritages.
With a 40.9% urban green coverage downtown and a percentage of forest cover of 38.7% across the entire municipality, the city is entitled a National Ecological Civilization Demonstration Plot, and reported by the Asian Development Bank as China’s most liveable city.
Chengdu is planning to build a greenway system with a main road of about 1,500 km long. The Jinjiang greenway is an important green axis planned and designed for Chengdu high-tech zone. Following the "Innovation, Coordination, Green, Open, Sharing" development philosophy, Chengdu is speeding up the construction of ecological zones, greenways, parks, small gardens, and micro-green lands. The goal of the city is to follow a path leading both to economic development and environmental improvement.
