IEFE

Università Bocconi is a university of international standing in business, economics and law. Its research projects are funded by national and supranational institutions. Bocconi ranks 1st in Europe in the panel SH1 “Individual, Institutions and Markets: Economics, Finance and Management”.

IEFE - Centre for Research on Energy and Environmental Economics and Policy of Università Bocconi is the research centre which co-ordinates and conducts applied research in the following fields:

energy economics, focusing on energy markets as well as on natural resources;
environmental economics, focusing on environmental and climate policy, analysis and evaluation;
economics of public utilities focusing on energy, water and waste services.

The main research areas regard multi-level policies for climate adaptation and mitigation, resource efficiency, energy efficiency, environment and competitiveness, regulatory, economic and voluntary instruments for the environment, smart and low carbon cities, climate finance, environmental information and public participation.

IEFE has working relations with several research organizations. It is member of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), it collaborates with UN-Habitat and it is also partner of UNEP’s GI-REC initiative on Global Resource Efficient Cities. It is an associated member of the European Energy Research Alliance in the Smart Cities Joint Programme.

In URBAN GreenUP project UB-IEFE leads the development of the exploitation and market deployment strategy with a specific focus on NBSs monetary evaluation, financial instrument and business models to foster the implementation of NBSs in European and extra-European countries.
