Demir Enerji

Demir Enerji is an SME experienced in sustainability consulting, carbon management and climate strategies which it has been pioneering in Turkey.

The increasing involvement of local governments in climate change adaptation and mitigation, has allowed Demir Enerji to increasingly direct its expertise to urban problems and solutions, which cover rural areas bordering the rapidly expanding cities.

The projects entail in depth analysis of urban development dynamics and prospects, taking into account of urban migration, demographic and economic developments as well as changes in administrative responsibilities.

Development of action plans in EE in the built environment, low carbon urban transport, local generation and supply of RE resources, waste and water management. In addition, overall integration of energy planning with urban built environment planning for low carbon futures, training and awareness raising activities for the local government, preparing a guideline to calculate GHG emissions in accordance with international standards.

Demir Enerji is also one of the most active entities in Turkey regarding EU FP participation with its collaboration in 5 smart cities projects in FP7and H2020; Cityfied, Remourban, Replicate, Urban Green UP and Matchup. Increasing local government capacities and participation in international collaborative projects has been Demir Enerji’s main objective regarding these projects.

The excellent EU project experience of Demir Enerji allows it to understand and synergize sustainability goals of local governments in the context of the Turkish urban development.

As a partner to local governments in the development of Sustainable Energy and Climate Adaptation Action Plans, Demir Enerji has experience in scenarios for low carbon futures in the cities and the imperative to integrate urban physical planning and urban energy flows.

The EU project management know-how is also a positive contribution to the seamless project flow. Demir Enerji's network in the Turkish local governments allows for strong “Replication” impacts from the work of the Project.

Demir Enerji is coordinating Turkish team and has the key role for demonstration activities in Izmir. Demir also contributes to the renaturing city methodology and monitoring and evaluation work packages of the Urban GreenUP project.
